Stereotypes
This subject has a huge influence on each and every individual living on this earth. that is why i chose to discuss it. it can make any place we live in or even pass by like a hell or a heaven!! it is very very important to learn about it and know how can we deal with it correctly!
  • We tend to remember more positive information about our own group

  • Stereotypes can influence people's views of themselves and others over time

  • Stereotypes lead to self-fulfilling prophecy

  • Stereotypes are often activated automatically just by seeing the person if she or he is visibly different, or if there is some marker that triggers our stereotypes, like a turban or chopsticks.

  • All people have stereotypes and know the social stereotypes for groups (such as female athletes, college Greeks, engineers)

  • The difference between “tolerant” and “Stereotypes can lead to inaccurate and ineffective communication (if our stereotypes of a group are different from the views the group has of itself). In other words, stereotypes can lead to communication breakdowns (“a feeling of dissatisfaction that detracts from the full potential of an encounter”

  • Stereotypes—even good ones (such as Asian Americans as the “model minority” have a negative aspect: They lead us to “depersonalize” people, to think of them only as members of a group rather than as unique individuals.
